British Council Connecting People, Building Opportunities
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. For over 90 years, we have worked in more than 100 countries, supporting peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and worldwide.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, we partner with governments, ministries and institutions to strengthen education systems, support teacher development and expand access to high-quality learning and assessment. Our work spans the entire learning journey, providing solutions that respond to local needs while aligning with global standards.
In 2024, we delivered over 415,000 exams across 84 cities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Our internationally recognised qualifications, including IELTS and Aptis, support learners and professionals to achieve their goals at home and abroad. We also offer age-specific English language programmes, Primary, Secondary and Foundation English, designed to build strong language skills from an early age.
Our global Partner Schools network connects over 2,300 schools delivering UK international qualifications such as International GCSEs and A Levels, helping learners access top universities and global careers.
At Innovation Africa, we reaffirm our commitment to long-term collaboration, bringing expertise, innovation and trusted partnerships to support inclusive, future-focused education across the continent.
